Our History

Basecloud is a dedicated B2B SaaS architecture company built on more than a decade of technical evolution. We specialize in building mission-critical software and structured data environments for industries that require precision and reliability. Founded in 2009 as Apps.io, our journey began by building infrastructure that powered hosted apps and custom features for early social platforms and digital creators. After acquiring Basecloud.com in 2012, we launched our legacy Basecloud product as part of our expanded B2B SaaS services. In 2014, we transitioned exclusively to B2B SaaS focusing on building new enterprise level services and in 2021 we unified our legacy of service and our passion for architecture under our Basecloud name. Today, we leverage that history to engineer the mission-critical Vertical Market Software (VMS) that high-stakes industries rely on every day.

Engineering Industrial Solutions Since 2013

  • 2009 – Foundation in hosted application infrastructure: Apps.io launches as a provider of integrated hosted application features, serving the needs of social network platforms and independent website creators.
  • 2012 – Acquisition & Product Launch: Apps.io acquires Basecloud.com (est. 2003) and related branding. Leveraging this new asset, the company launched our legacy B2B SaaS Basecloud product.
  • 2013 – Pivot to B2B SaaS: Recognizing a shift in the market, Apps.io transitions its core operations toward B2B SaaS services and high-level enterprise website consulting.
  • 2016 – Expansion into Industrial SaaS: Marking a significant shift toward Vertical Market Software, we launched a managed private beta of OILTRA, serving a select group of industrial partners. Developed as a specialized solution for the upstream oil and gas sector, the software began its first real-world deployments, focusing on production tracking, accounting and regulatory compliance logic.
  • 2017 – Enterprise Domain Management: Recognizing the need for unified digital management, we launched specialized hosting and domain registrar services to our clients and partners. This expansion ensured our clients had a single, reliable source for both their software architecture and their underlying web infrastructure.
  • 2020 – Re-launch of Basecloud.com: We transitioned our hosting and domain services to a direct-to-consumer model on Basecloud.com, serving as the first major step in unifying our public-facing digital properties.
  • 2021 – Brand Unification & Consolidation: On April 8, we finalized a multi-year transition by divesting the Apps.io brand. We unified our legacy of service and engineering expertise under our Basecloud name, aligning our identity with our passion for industrial architecture and B2B SaaS innovation for specialized industries.

At Basecloud, we believe that enterprise software is the quiet engine of industry.

Our work is guided by three core principles:

  • Precision Architecture: We design systems for high-stakes environments where “close enough” isn’t an option. Our focus is on building structured, logical environments that maintain data integrity under pressure.
  • Functional Utility: We prioritize practical, real-world utility over fleeting tech trends. Every feature we build is engineered to solve a specific operational challenge with maximum efficiency.
  • Vertical Specialization: We don’t believe in “one-size-fits-all.” We build Vertical Market Software (VMS) tailored to the unique regulatory, accounting, and workflow demands of the industries we serve.
