Founded in 2009, our history spans two distinct operational segments. Our early foundational services launched under the Apps.IO consumer brand, while our commercial and enterprise services have been continuously and uniformly driven by the Basecloud brand name since 2012. Following the launch of direct-to-consumer domain sales on Basecloud.com in 2020, we completed our long-term brand alignment in 2021 by transitioning the remaining active products from the Apps.IO portfolio into our primary Basecloud branding, officially retiring the Apps.IO name. Today, we leverage that history to engineer the mission-critical Vertical Market Software (VMS) that high-stakes industries rely on every day.
Engineering Industrial Solutions Since 2009
- 2009 – Foundation in Hosted Application Infrastructure: The Apps.IO brand launches as a provider of integrated hosted application features, serving the needs of social network platforms and independent website creators.
- 2012 – Commercial Launch of the Basecloud Brand: Following the acquisition of Basecloud.com (est. 2003) and related branding, the company officially launched the Basecloud platform (now Basecloud App Engine) and Basecloud brand to serve exclusively as our commercial and enterprise architecture tier, powering specialized B2B SaaS solutions for corporate accounts.
- 2013 – Strategic Development Shift & Product Sunset: Transitioned primary development resources away from legacy consumer features to focus exclusively on enterprise services. The company systematically sunsetted select Apps.IO products, reallocating core engineering focus toward building new enterprise-level architecture and high-level industrial consulting.
- 2014 – Enterprise Domain Management: Recognizing the need for unified digital management among our corporate accounts, we launched specialized hosting and domain registrar services under the Basecloud enterprise brand, providing corporate partners with a reliable, single source for both their software architecture and underlying web infrastructure.
- 2016 – Expansion into Industrial SaaS: Marking a significant shift toward Vertical Market Software, we launched a managed private beta of OILTRA, serving a select group of industrial partners. Developed as a specialized solution for the upstream oil and gas sector, the software began its first real-world deployments, focusing on production tracking, accounting and regulatory compliance logic.
- 2020 – Consumer Infrastructure Expansion: We transitioned our hosting and domain services to a direct-to-consumer model on Basecloud.com, serving as the first major step in opening our primary infrastructure properties to a wider audience.
- 2021 – Product Migration & Brand Retirement: On April 8, we finalized a planned operational alignment by transitioning all remaining active products under the Apps.IO brand over to our Basecloud branding and retiring the legacy Apps.IO consumer brand name. By consolidating these remaining products under our primary enterprise banner, we systematically phased out the retired Apps.IO name, anchoring our entire operational footprint under the standalone, US-based Basecloud infrastructure portfolio built over the previous decade.
